Bingham Park Master Plan
Bingham Park - $1.5M Phase 1 Implementation
On April 24, 2026, Sarah Wolff, Director of Outreach & Advocacy, Olmsted Parks Conservancy, provided the following update.
“After decades of no capital investment, a restored and reimagined Bingham Park will provide a walkable destination with features uniquely suited to the needs of the local community. It will offer a space that can form the backdrop for neighborhood gatherings and festivities, from families enjoying the new playground to a troupe of blind actors showcasing their talents at a new amphitheater. Bingham Park will again be the heart of this community. The Conservancy is partnering with The Dot Experience, Solid Light, and KY School for the Blind to ensure the park will be a national model for state-of-the-art accessibility features.”
Phase 1 park improvements include re-grading the Coral Avenue entrance to be ADA accessible, demolition of existing playground, spray ground and restroom facility; construction of new walkways, restrooms, splash pad and playground. On June 25, 2026, Metro Council approved the 2026-2027 fiscal year capital budget including the $1.5 million Bingham Park Phase 1 funding. With this approval construction is planned to begin in 2027. In the FY27-28 capital budget, $1 million will be requested for Phase 2 with the Conservancy providing $1 million in matching funds to complete the master plan improvements.
